lyrics

Spirit Light

You built up this tree so tall
Upon the sodden ground
It seemed safe and sound

Seasons come and seasons go
And life is formed beneath
Crawling under leaves

It stands firm and it stands proud
And helps you with your view
Dependence given too

But you went running wild
As a beast that roams with lost identity
Acting on force
That agreed a sleekly passage to nowhere fast

You pushed out to be so strong
Like your friend the tree
Always family

Clouds draw in a callous blow
A scene from year zero
A pallet full of turmoil

Winter sets a twisted hue
And patience was called forth
To wait outside the door

But to chop him down
Would spite the face and give the rage a seed to chance
To slash the bark
Would leave a moment mark this disappears alone
So kick on out
And let your spirit light guide you home
